Rolls Royce
100th
Anniversary Commemorative Shotgun
The
Rolls-Royce Commemorative Shotgun was to be issued to
commemorate Rolls Royce’s 100th Anniversary.
There was to be only 100 produced worldwide. With the take
over of Rolls Royce by Audi this issue stagnated over the
use of the Rolls Royce name and who would have rights to
its use. Since arrangements for this issue were originally
made with the Rolls Royce Company of England and the Rolls
Royce Owner’s Club, there developed a question as to who
would actually be sponsoring this limited edition icon. As
a result, this issue was canceled after only the #1 of 100
was produced. Only the # 1 of 100 and the Proof gun were
produced. This issue can never be reopened.
The #1 of
100 originally sold for the $7,000 issue price. An
immediate offer for over $10,000 was refused for the
purchase of this gun. The Proof gun was never released but
was to be offered for an issue price of $10,000 if the
issue had been completed.
The Ruger
Red Label Over and Under Shotgun was selected because of
its high quality and the fact that Bill Ruger was an
active member of the Rolls Royce Owner’s Club. The
shotgun is 24k Gold plated and profusely engraved with
eleven Rolls-Royce automobiles and other Rolls-Royce
icons. The gun was issued with a French fitted hard case.
This
Proof is for sale. It includes the Oak display case with
glass front and mirrored back and the French fitted case.
